Air flow is an important part of the combustion process that powers your vehicle's engine. Air is drawn into the engine through the air filter. Your engine's air filter captures contaminants, for example bugs, dust, pollen, and other fine particles out of the air before they enter your engine.

Each gallon of gas burned by your engine requires 10,000 gallons of air-that translates into many contaminants being drawn into your filter. Left unchanged, dirty air can lead to poor acceleration, lower gas mileage and poor engine performance.

Your air filter should be changed every 9,000 miles or according to the recommendations in your owner's manual.
